When building a balanced betting strategy, are you paying attention to the difference between IP and OOP?
If you find yourself thinking "this hand has a BDFD so I want to bet it at some frequency" or "I have a range advantage on this board so I'll bet these trash hands too" regardless of position, be careful.
Figures 1 and 2 show the C-bet strategies on a K94r board for BTN vs. BB SRP and SB vs. BB SRP respectively. In the bottom-right of each figure, the frequency for Q6s (a trash hand) is enlarged. When IP (BTN vs. BB), the solver bets at some frequency regardless of suit. However, when OOP (SB vs. BB), hands without a BDFD almost always pure check.

When OOP, if your C-bet gets called, you still have to act first on the turn. Therefore, carrying too many trash hands into the next street is fundamentally bad. These trash hands should simply take the x/f (check-fold) line.
Conversely, when IP, even if your C-bet gets called, your OOP opponent will typically check to you on the turn, giving you the possibility of seeing the river card for free. So the next question becomes: how trashy can a hand be and still C-bet from OOP? The sound approach is to determine this based on the C-bet size and the overall C-bet frequency of your range at that size.

Quick Tip Summary
IP can C-bet trash; OOP should x/f trash.
