Houou-sen is a competitive poker league that evaluates long-term skill rather than one-shot luck. Improve your game through weekly matches and aim for the top title of "Houou-i".

Seeker Start is written for people learning poker for the first time and for players rebuilding their fundamentals. Articles are ordered by difficulty, so reading from the top requires no prior knowledge.

Every article is free and no sign-up is required. Our competitive league, Houou-sen, is also free to enter with no rake.
๐ Seeker Start by the Numbers
The site launched in February 2026, and our competitive league Poker Houou-sen began the same month. We have run both the articles and the league through successive seasons since.
Player and hand figures are cumulative totals. Current standings are published on the Houou-sen official ranking.
โ๏ธ How Articles Are Written & Maintained
Article planning, structure and editorial decisions are made by the Seeker Start members who run Houou-sen. As players competing in the league ourselves, we prioritise the order we wish someone had taught us as beginners.
Every article follows the same path to publication. Once it is prepared, a Seeker Start member reviews it and only publishes it once that review is complete. Nothing goes live unreviewed.
Where an article was first published on note (Seeker Start official), a note at the top of the article says so and links to the original.
If you find an error or anything unclear, please tell us via the contact form. We verify and correct articles on an ongoing basis.
